Looks & Texture
I will be honest, when I first opened the jar I was a little surprised by how runny the Gary Payton was.
I am far from a live rosin extract expert, I’m certainly not claiming to be one. I’ve bought a handful of different live rosins over the years and everything I’ve gotten before had always been a way more wax like and congealed and solid. The other strain of rosin I bought alongside the Gary P was also much more solid (Garlic Breath).
This stuff was some of that liquid gold.
I had seen others pictures of similar rosins and this stuff you could whip up and around. I decided to do that and found a good bit of the rosin had congealed around the sides of the container. I scraped and whipped it all down together in the main part of the jar.
A decent bit of it had leaked up onto the top of the lid making a pretty significant ring of collected rosin. I had to get my rosin knife and get to scraping it back down into the jar.
The color was a nice light orangeish, peach yellow mix. It had a bit of a sheen on it. It does look very similar to the picture Wildflower has on their site for the product. When whipped up it takes on a bit more peanut buttery consistency vs the ‘honey’ feel it has once it all settles.
Smell
There is a diesel pine kind of sour mix smell.
It was not a powerful smell just smelling it in the jar but it had a little more sting to the smell than the Garlic Breath I ordered at the same time to compare.
Smells nice, I like it.
It’s not fruity or cherry smelling, it does not smell like purple.
Taste
It tasted really good out of my crossing core 2.0 at the lowest temp.
The flavor popped with the diesel and sour kicking in on the exhale. The first hit was mostly terps and it was really flavorful. I liked it it was sharp tasting. After the exhale I was like oooh that’s nice.
I did dab later bowls at the next higher temp setting and was getting larger quantities of vapor. It certainly hit harder once I cranked up the heat.
Effects
The effects were solid. I was nice and high, feeling good.
I only dabbed a fairly small amount as I am not looking to get completely zooted in the middle of the day. I’d like to maintain my composure enough to get to work and not end up down some rabbit hole learning about ancient civilizations or megalithic structures in Montana (check out the Sage Wall in Montana, pretty awesome).
Gary P is a sativa leaning hybrid in my experience with the flower before so I certainly do not want to get too high from over dabbing, which is easy to do.
The buzz felt good, hit immediately and was a nice uplifting feeling buzz. It was not overpowering and I didn’t feel dazed and confused.
I went ahead and tried a dab of the Garlic breath to compare and I’m feeling pretty good writing this review.
Packaging
The 1g of rosin were put in small glass or ceramic containers with twist on lids with inner sheathing on the lid. These were placed inside small mylar bags and heat sealed. They were wrapped in paper and put inside a small cardboard box. There was absolutely no smell or indication on the labeling of who was sending the package or what might be inside it.
The rosin from the Gary Payton strain had collected a little bit on the lid. A quick scrape off with the dab knife and most all of it was back together in the bowl.
There were no cold packs included shipping would would be nice during the summer months, especially when shipping concentrate, but that is not the norm in this industry.
Everything was shipped via USPS to my mailbox from a company that you would not assume is a cannabis reseller. The shippers name is generic as is the box.
Would I buy Again?
Pros & Cons
The jury is out right now, I am going to dab both of these strains until I finish them over the following weeks and give my more experienced feedback then.
